pepper dust or homemade pepper spray will work and will not harm the puppy…the other choice is to keep it from the garden
Put a border around it.
I use this stuff called, “critter ridder” from the hardware store. it is non toxic and keeps animals away by the strong scent. good luck.
put a border around it if he jumps over thump him on the nose every time he will learn
Petco carries products such as Critter Ridder (which is about $18 comes in a shakeable canister- all natural cayenne pepper ingredients). It is more of an irritant than anything else. They are supposed to have a money back guarantee if it does not work. Unfortunately I used this product with my 3 poms right before the rainy season so it wasnt very helpful. Now would be a good time to give it a try. Dogs also dont like the smell of lemon, it deterrs barking and all sorts of bad behavior, maybe you can plant an addition to the garden like lemon thyme….love that stuff (works great as a mosquito repellent- rub between fingers and thumb and wipe yourself down). Hope this helps!
My best success in this was to erect a short fence around the whole area. It works year ound and doesnt need replacing like a product that looses its effectiveness in the rain. Building centres sell prefab little picket fences that are ideal, look smart and your pup WILL learn to stay out of the borders completely, even when tall enough to step over it. Mind you, should a cat be in there good luck, any dog will go after it unless they are pals.
pepper dust will probably kill the plants… but i would put a fence around the flowers.there aren’t really any other ways to prevent the dog from walking into the garden. nothing wooden or or big, but something small, metal or wire and mildly fancy. there are plenty or websites and stores you can go to to order and look at the fences. good luck!
