Besides using bird houses, feeders, and baths. Do you use your flower beds and landscaping to attract birds to your yard? What plants do you use? How do you layout your garden in respect to birdbaths, feeders and houses?

Grass in the yard got very tall due to my illness has prevented me from trimming and weeding. The grass in the yard went to seed and all the seeds fell in my garden and that has caused grass to grow in my flowers. I have many wonderful plants and don’t want to damage them by digging them up. Also, because of the plants, I can’t spray with a grass and weed killer. Another problem, there are fireant hills in many areas of the flower beds…please help with ideas.

I have poison ivy growing up my walls of my house, and it is mixed in with my flowers and shrubs. I just got this house, and I can’t work in the flower beds until I get rid of this! But I am allergic, and I heard that you can get it in your eyes and lungs… does anyone know how to get rid of it safely, and make sure it doesn’t come back?

I’m trying to figure out if the same black triple-shredded mulch I use for the flower beds would have any effects on my vegetable plants. Anyone know if there are harmful chemicals in the dye they use or the process they use to make the mulch?
